ABOUT

Sunday at the Automat play a mix of lo-fi, acoustic and electronica - originals and dusty covers.

Get transported to a bittersweet Kodachrome world of reverbs, space echos and analog drum machines.

Sunday at the Automat is a Teignmouth based band founded by guitarist and songwriter Ian who was inspired by his ever-growing collection of vintage preset drum machines, “we were looking for a new angle and I wanted to use the drum machines in a live environment, swapping rhythms mid song and changing tempos rather than just letting one rhythm run for the whole song”.

The band’s current set is a mix of originals and left field covers of songs they have loved for a long time with influences ranging from Lou Reed, Tim Hardin, Kris Kristofferson, Clifford T Ward, Johnny Thunders and bands Suicide, Green on Red and Cowboy Junkies.

Post Covid lockdown, Sunday at the Automat have started rehearsing again and are working on several musical strands, they have two existing song suites Songs from a black house and Postcards from an abandoned hotel, as well as a new collection of lo fi tracks EZ-matic and a complete live set of classy under the radar covers with a distinctly 70's outlaw country vibe.
